Travel to Yichang
When I visited Yichang I was very impressed. You will notice that Yichang is one of the biggest cities in Hubei province and has many tourist attractions which are worth a visit. The Three Gorges dam is the most famous and best known attractions in the region, there are of course many other things that you can see and do when visiting.
Three Gorges Dam
The main reason I visited YiChang was to see the amazing three gorges dam. When there, I learned about the impressive project. I quickly learned that it is the largest hydroelectric dam on the planet and generates lots of green electricity which is used by many cities in China. Not only is this a functional dam, but it is also a very important tourist attraction. I saw lots of people from all over the world looking at this dam.
When standing on the viewing platforms for the dam, you can see for miles. If the weather is nice then you can see for a very long way. I found that the Three Gorges Dam is very impressive and well worth a visit. I also took a river cruise to see the Three Gorges Dam from a different perspective. I found that a Yangtze River cruise is a lot of fun.

Yangtze River Cruise
When I arrived in Yichang, I found that there were many different river cruise operators I could choose from. These river cruises take you down the Yangtze River and normally last 4 or 9 days. The cruise I taked is called Victoria Jenna which is a superior 5 star cruise belongs to Victoria Cruises operator by American company. The routes I choosen was downstream from Chongqing to Yichang take 4 nights 3days. I really enjoyed the river cruise.
Sanxia Resort
After the river cruise, I decided to find something else to do which was a bit more relaxing. I found that the Sanxia resort is very peaceful and traditional Chinese park. Breathing in the fresh air was a nice change from the busy cluttered city. I also found many different paths and hills to walk around which was a nice way to exercise. Me and my wife even got to have some fun with water sports on the lake.
Three Visitors Cave
When visiting any new place, I really like to explore as much as possible. It’s worth getting off the beaten track so you can see some of the more unique and interesting sights. One of these attractions I saw was the Three Visitors Cave. I didn’t find many commercial sellers round here, and most of the signs are translated into English. I discovered quite a few different caves. If you do decide to visit here then give yourself quite a few hours, because the park is bigger than it first appears.
Shennong Stream
Most of the Yangtze River is cluttered with boats. I did find a natural unspoiled stretch called Shennong Stream. This is a really nice way to see the natural stream. I took a traditional Chinese boat down the 2 mile stretch of stream so I could experience the real river.
Chinese Sturgeon Museum
There were once thousands of Chinese sturgeons in the Yangtze river. Now there are thought to be only a few hundred left in the wild. Chinese Sturgeon Museum contains lots of information, including telling you how important they are to China. These fish have been on the planet since the dinosaurs ruled the earth. I think this is a really interesting museum to visit as you will be able to learn more about this unique animal and why it is so important.
Nearby Attractions
On my short stay in YiChang, I also found many other attractions to visit. These included the former home of Wang Zhaojun. Wang Zhaojun was one of the four beauties of ancient China. Her home is located in a very beautiful traditional village. I saw the exquisite traditional buildings which are cared for lovingly. I also only had to pay 30 RMB to enter, which makes it a real bargain.
