Yangtze Hiking from Yichang to Fengjie for 6 Days

Route Two: Yichang - Shipai Village - Nantuo Village - Maopingxin County - Badong - Nanmu Yuan - Beishi - Qingshi - Wushan - Dachang - Wushan - Daxi - BaiDicheng - Fengjie

This amazing journey from Yichang to Fengjie will take about six days and will let you enjoy an altogether different and unique experience from your precious hiking trip down the Yangtze. There is no end to the natural beauty and variety of wondrous landscapes in China and you can witness this fact in the first glance when you start your journey from the diverse city of Yichang.

Yichang – The diverse city of Yichang serves as the perfect starting spot for a journey filled with adventure, beauty and natural splendor at every stop. Take a boat from Yichang to Shipai village to encounter a ride that will prove to be 80 minutes of pure bliss and awe.

Shipai Village – Shipai is a small village tucked away in the heart of the Yangtze delta and is a popular tourist spot because of its naturally beautiful and spectacular surroundings and the presence of ancient architecture and monuments within its walls. If you are an avid history buff, make sure you visit the Monument of the War of Residence and you will not be bored for a single minute.

Nantuo – The hike from Shipai to Nantuo village takes around five to six hours and can be undoubtedly regarded as the best part of your entire hiking journey in this route. The landscape is filled with natural beauty and charm and will mesmerize and enchant you from the word go.

Maopingxin – After exploring the Nantuo village, you need to cross the river bank and head to the opposite side towards the Liantuo Village. While savoring the natural landscape and getting friendly with the hospitable people in the area, you can take a bus ride to the nearby county of Maopingxin.

This entire county is quite clean and well-organized and you can plan your excursion in this region staying in a comfortable lodge and savor delicious cuisine that the Chinese are famous for. Badong – In order to reach Badong you need to take a boat ride early in the morning so that you can enjoy the delightful atmosphere of the area without any hindrance and shortage of time. Although Speed boats are readily available, normal boats are a cheaper and more enjoyable option.

Nanmu Yuan – The road from Badong to Nanmu Yuan is enjoyable yet adventurous because of the varying and rocky landscapes. You can either take control of a boat yourself or opt for a ride with the local boatmen. First of all you will need to travel by a speedboat from the Badong Shazhuanchang Port to the Huoyanshui Village.

From then onwards you can cross the Lianzi Stream to reach Nanmu Yuan. The entire journey takes about four hours and gives an adventurous and thrilling feel to your holiday. Rest the night at a local lodge or hostel and carry on your journey to Beishi the following morning.

Beishi – From Nanmu Yuan you can opt for a thrilling boat ride to Beishi, which is a true paradise for visitors that wish to see the real beauty of China in full bloom.

The next stop from Beishi is Qingshi, and the 12 kilometers hike between the two stops gives you the chance to view and explore the world-famous Fairy Peak. The entire surroundings of this area mesmerize you into a fairy-tale like adventure because of its ethereal beauty.

Qingshi – Qingshi is a small but beautiful village nestled in the Yangtze delta where you can stop by to enjoy the beauty and splendor of the surroundings.

Though there are no specific lodging facilities available in this area, you can choose to spend the night with a local family, thus giving you a chance to get a close view of the lifestyle and culture of the hospitable Chinese.

Wushan – From Qingshi you can take a boat ride to Wushan, the hub of Yangtze and one of the main highlights of the Yangtze River hiking trip. Wushan is a county rich with tradition and cultural significance of the ancient dynasties in China. The monuments, architecture and natural beauty of the county make it an ideal hiking spot for visitors. Many ancient relics and magnificent pieces make Wushan an explorer’s heaven.

Dachang – You can take a bus from the Futian Town in Wushan and travel onto the ancient village of Dachang, which is remarkable in terms of natural beauty and ancient history.

The view of the blue sky and white water in this small and green village is spectacular, and the small but clear Danning River adds to its surreal charm.

Do not forget to visit the Chen Family Compound and the South Gate while you are trekking as they are important ancient heirlooms that speak of the royal historical significance of China.

Wushan – From Dachang you need to take a boat ride back to Wushan where you can continue on o the later part of your journey towards Fengjie.

Daxi – Daxi is a small platform where you can get off the boat and start hiking through the rough road strewn with rocks and exotic flora and fauna towards the town of BaiDicheng.

BaiDicheng – BaiDicheng is a popular destination, with multiple highlights and spectacular sights awaiting you! You can hike the mountain tops on foot if you are feeling adventurous, or even take a cable car if you wish to fully enjoy the beauty of the canopies and valleys lying miles below you.

Fengjie – Fengjie is a ten minute drive from BaiDicheng and provides excellent opportunities of entertainment and sightseeing. There can be no better end to your hiking trip than a relaxed dinner at an exquisite eatery in this small town!
