Former Residence of Wang Zhaojun

Wangzhaojun’s Former Residence As one of the most famous Four Beauties in ancient China alongside Xishi, Diaochan and Yang Yuhuan, Wangzhaojun was married off by the Han Chinese Emperor to a Hun chieftain as a pawn in an imperial game of chess designed to divide and conquer the Hun enemies.


Highlights of the Residence

The Former Residence of Wang Zhaojun is located in Baoping Village (also called Mingfei Village, or Wangjia Wan), a picturesque village 55 km from the Xingshan County of Yichang surrounded by scenic mountains and water. Visitors will visit Dresser, Pearl Pool, Wangyue Tower and other small sites. It is said that Dresser is the place where Wang Zhaojun used to sit for her morning wash. Zhaojun house is a reconstruction in the style of Ming and Qing period, located next to the dresser. The house itself is tall, full of rooms with high ceilings, and with winding corridors. Prominently placed in the front of house is a three-meter-high figure of Wang Zhaojun made of white marble.
