Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum

Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum

The first stop of the day is the Dr Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum. Suffice to say that here lies the father of the modern Chinese state and it is no wonder if you are left in awe towards this place. Some 392 steps lead to the very entrance in this mausoleum and it is a definite must-see place when you are visiting Nanjing. The Zhonghua Men Gate is the second stop of the day. This gate is one of the 13 gates the Nanjing castle has and it is the best preserved one. This castle is the oldest and architecturally the most complex castle in the world and visiting it will give you a chance to glimpse far back in the past. After this place, you will get to see the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge. It is the first bridge designed and constructed by Chinese people without any help from the foreigners. Also, it is the world’s largest bridge that serves both as the highway and railroad bridge. The next stop of this action packed day is the Confucius Temple or the Fuzimiao. It was built in 1034 AD and the fact that is almost a millennium old says enough. There are many shops and entertaining features within the temple complex which are supposed to increase its commercial worth. Also, within the dancing hall in this temple is the biggest statue of Confucius in the world. The last scenic spot of the day is the Qinhuai River. This river remembers the long history of the town and it is inseparable part of all that is happening in the city. Its bank was very popular during the Qing and Ming Dynasties due to the red lantern alley that was placed there. The day ends in the Xianheng Restaurant where you will have the chance to taste local food. Meals: Breakfast and a Chinese lunch at the Xianheng Restaurant
