Huangshan Airport

Huangshan AirportThe Huangshan Tunxi Airport, usually referred to simply as the Huangshan Airport, is located in the Tunxi District of Huangshan City in Anhui Province, about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) from the downtown area of Huangshan. It is approximately 70 kilometers (43.5 miles) from the airport to Huangshan Scenic Area.

The airport was built in 1958 and is equipped with a 2,600-meter (2,843.4-yard) airstrip, a 4C standard flight area, and a 48,800-square-meter (58,366-square-yard) parking apron, with eight gate positions. The airport offers domestic flights from Huangshan to Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xian, Zhuhai, Guilin, Jinan, Hefei, Fuzhou, Xiamen and Chengdu, along with other less popular cities. The airport is also served by two regional airlines offering flights to Hong Kong and Macau. There are no direct international flights to Huangshan Airport. Annual passenger throughput averages about 900,000 at the airport.

Facilities: Passenger facilities include two lounges-a Regional Service Lounge (of 2,200-square-meters, or 2,631 square-yards) and a Domestic Service Lounge (of 10,000-square-meters, or 11,960 square yards). The VIP areas of the lounges offer free tea and newspapers.

Getting there: Taxicab and bus service to downtown Tunxi are provided at the airport. For taxicab service, the base fare is CNY5 for the first 3 km (1.9 miles) and CNY1.5 for each additional kilometer. Bus service is provided between the hours of 07:00 and 17:30 only. Two bus lines service the airport-the No.17 and No.19.

By Train

Huangshan Railway StationThe Huangshan Railway Station is located in Qianyuan Bei Lu, downtown Tunxi District. Wan-gan railway line (from Anhui Province to Jiangxi Province) runs through Huangshan City. Many trains run directly to Beijing (about 19 hour's journey), Shanghai (eleven or twelve hour's journey), Guangzhou (about 19 hour's journey), Nanjing (five to eight hour's journey), Hefei, Jingdezhen, Nanchang (eight or nine hour's journey), Xiamen (about 23 hour's journey) and Fuzhou (14 or 15 hour's journey). If you visit southern China first, you can transfer at Hangzhou. If you come to Huangshan City from northern China, Nanjing is your best transfer stop.

By Taxi

The flag-down rate for taxis in Huangshan City is CNY5 for the first 3 kilometers (1.9 miles), then CNY1.5 for each extra kilometer (0.6 mile). Travel time from the railway station to Tunxi Ancient Street by taxi is six or seven minutes.

By City-Bus

There are nearly 20 public bus lines in Huangshan City, taking travelers to nearly every corner of the city. Most of the buses run between 06:00 – 18:00 while some may run later. Nearly all the bus routes pass the city center – Yuzhong Garden.Buses No.1, 2, and 6 run to Huangshan Railway Station and No.18 runs to Huangshan Airport

In addition, the Huangshan City Bus Station and the Railway Station have buses to the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Spot. The Huangshan City Bus Station is 64 kilometers (39.8 miles) from the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Spot Bus Station (Tangkou Town). Take the bus leaving from Huangshan City Bus Station to Mt. Huangshan Gate, then change buses at the gate to reach one of the two entrances to Mt. Huangshan—the Merciful Light Pavilion (Ciguang Ge) or the Cloud Valley Temple (Yungu Si). In addition,there are coaches going directly to Shexian and Jingdezhen setting out from the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Spot Bus Station (Tangkou Town).

Bus Station

There are two main bus stations in Huangshan, one in the city center and one at the foot of the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Spot.

By Long-Distance Bus

Huangshan City Bus Station is near the railway station in Huangshan Dong Lu - 10 minutes on foot from the railway station. Huangshan City is connected with Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, Mt. Jiuhua, and Jingdezhen by national highways.   In addition the Hui-Hang (from Anhui Province to Hangzhou City) highway, Hefei - Tongling - Mt.Jiuhua - Mt.Huangshan highway, Mt. Huangshan-Jingdezhen highway, and the round-Mt. Huangshan-highway form an efficient network for Huangshan City. There are luxury buses leaving Huangshan City everyday for the main cities in south China including Hangzhou (2.5-hour journey), Ningbo, Shanghai, Wuhan, Jingdezhen, Suzhou, Wenzhou, and Hefei.

There is no direct bus from Tunxi to the Mt. Huangshang Scenic Area. Visitors should take a bus from the Huangshan City Bus Station to Tangkou Town near the south entrance of Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area. The fare is CNY13 per person. Then, transfer to a special tourist coach. The round-trip ticket fee is CNY13 per person. The coach will take visitors to the Ciguang Pavilion (the starting point for climbing the mountain from the front) or the Cloud Valley Temple (the starting point for climbing the mountain from the back).

New National Line (Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area) Bus Station transports visitors from neighboring cities to Mt. Huangshan includes Anqing, Hangzhou, Yixian County and Hefei.
