Chengdu Yuecheng Lake

As far as the beauty of nature goes, it doesn't get much better than a view of the Yuecheng Lake, or Moon City Lake, with this Yuecheng Mountain gem of a place surrounded by Qingling Hill and the Zhangren Peak and the name coming from the Yuecheng Mountain itself.

Yuecheng Lake, as famously depicted in a picturesque photograph under the misty blue light of the early morning, appears in a number of tourist guides of China for the mere reason of it being one of the most beautiful places on the entire planet, and while that may indeed be arguable, it is well worth checking out for anyone who is in the Chengdu area, or anywhere nearby.

It is no wonder that the mere sighting of the Yuecheng Lake just about completes any valuable excursion to the area and the lake is suitably extremely popular amongst both locals and touring visitors from abroad.

Highlights

At its most tranquil moment in time, which is a state of existence that happens more often than not, the pure and green Yuecheng Lake water mirrors the surrounding landscape so perfectly that it is often hard to make out the real from the reflection, something worth capturing with a camera as its hypnotic nature can have you lost in the moment for a very long time, just staring into the expanse.

Yuecheng Lake's 30 000 square metre surface area can make for somewhat of a hypnotic optical illusion that speaks to the soul in the tongue of Mother Nature, but what one should particularly look out for are the various, subtle water sources of the Lake, which periodically branch out of the Qingxi River, best enjoyed in doses that complement a cup of tea that is offered with the excursion, in the manner traditional to how the locals have been doing it for years.

You'd be well advised to carry a map of the area though, since the surrounding mountainous area, along with the hypnotic allure of the water could have you lose yourself in ways that go beyond the majestic visual stimulus your eyes will enjoy.

Entrance Fees: RMB 10/per person
