Leshan Entertainment

Leshan isn’t Beijing or Shanghai. It is more laid-back and bucolic with its many natural wonders. That doesn’t mean, however, there’s nothing else you can do there except to climb mountains or visit the Giant Buddha. Entertainment is definitely thriving in Leshan especially in the city.

Cinemas

There are only few cinemas in the areas, but they are enough to let you catch some of the latest movies in the market. Two of the most prominent ones are the Leshan Pacific Studios, which is located at Tuqiao Leshan Center, on its third floor. It is open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. To get there, catch bus nos. 1, 2, and 13. The other choice is Yinhe Cinema, which is found at No. 8 South Renmin Road.

Zhao Family Youtang Spiced Crispy Duck

The restaurant is now found at Zhaoji Youtang Tianpi Ya. One of its well-known dishes is the sweet crispy duck that is simply bursting with a lot of flavors and truly delicious. In fact, a lot of people believe this is way better than the other roasted ducks in the country. Best of all, a duck meal can cost only 20 yuan.

Theatrical Performances

Just like the rest of China, Leshan hasn’t disconnected itself yet from the past. To reacquaint the new generation to the culture of the past and to introduce tourists to the place’s customs and traditions, different kinds of performances are done in the theaters.

One of these is the Emei Spirit Show, which is held at Emei Yun Theater. This building is also within the Mount Emei Scenic Area. After you have toured some of its interesting points and perhaps have seen the Leshan Giant Buddha, you can then proceed to the theater and watch an incredible performance composed of puppet shows, change face, and long silk dance.

Honglilai Hotel

Because travelers come in droves in Leshan, the place is now being crowded by various types of accommodation choices such as hotels. Besides rooms, they also offer in-house restaurants. One of the biggest is at Honglilai Hotel. It is found at 268 Jiading Middle Road in Shizhong District. It specializes Sichuan cuisine. Every dish can cost you 71 yuan and up.

Deng Qiang Restaurant

The Deng Qiang Restaurant is just one of the many excellent dining options if you’re looking for a real Sichuan dish. But perhaps what added to its appeal is its location. It’s only a few minutes away from the Giant Buddha. After a tiring climb to the statue and trek down, you can simply walk for about 5 minutes to reach this place.

The restaurant is found at 158 Binjiang Lu Xia Duan and is family owned. Aside from the staff, you may be lucky to also interact with the owners themselves.

Leisure Cloud Top Tea House

There are a lot of tea houses all over the city that it will definitely take a lot of time to talk about many of them. Just to give you an idea, these teahouses also serve Sichuan delicacies; the beverage is one of the best ways to end every meal.

Most of them also have tables and chairs outside, as many locals prefer to drink their teas outside. This also gives them chance to play their native card games without having to cause any annoyance on the other guests.

One of these teahouses is the Leisure Cloud Top. It is found in No. 299 Middle Jiading Road at Shizhong Disdtrict. The tea house is divided into two sections. The inner section is composed of two halls while the other is the garden. Aside from the dining hall, the guests can also use their conference room and chess area.

Wang Haoer Fishing Port Restaurant

This restaurant is very famous for two things: one is the flavor and two is the shape of the restaurant itself. It is located in a ship, which is perfect since it also operates near the river, at Wang Haoer Port near Binjiang Road.

As is common in Sichuan cuisine, most of the dishes served in Wang Haoer Fishing Port Restaurant are marine based, especially fish. Some of these have been obtained from the rivers within the area.

They are cooked the Sichuan way—that is, they can get very spicy. Nevertheless, if you’re uncomfortable with the taste, you can ask the cook to make it something mild or very light.

A meal here can cost about 79 yuan.

Club

The people of Leshan do retire to bed earlier than those who live in more urban centers. By 10:00 p.m., you can hardly see them on the streets or even inside bars. However, come Saturday, after the weekday is over, they head to their favorite clubs to relax and enjoy some drinks. They also don’t mind staying a bit longer. One of the bars they frequent to is the Banana Club.
