Shanghai and Yangtze Three Gorges Exploration

Upon your arrival, our guide will pick you up at the arrival hall of the airport with holding your name sign. An hour’s drive by our experienced driver will take you to your hotel in Shanghai. The guide will hand you a free CH cell phone package which includes free rental for the cell phone and SIM card and at least 30 free minutes, delivery and collection in China. Return the phone to your guide when you depart. Dinner is not included. Our guide can give you suggestions.

A full day tour of Shanghai highlights. After breakfast, we will first visit Shanghai Museum. Shanghai Museum houses a collection of 123,000 cultural arts in 21 categories including bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy, Ming and Qing-dynasty furniture and ancient art works. Continue our visit to Yuyuan Garden. Yuyuan Garden is a tranquil classical garden and well blends of pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters with unique characteristics. The area surrounding Yuyuan Garden is Yuyuan Market (named Chenghuangmiao in Chinese) consisting of numerous antique shops, local snacks, handicrafts, and souvenirs, which worths a visit. Lunch is at a great local restaurant - Old Shanghai Restaurant. A visit to Jiangnan Silk Shop and Workshop is also included. In the afternoon, we head to the Bund for a waterfront stroll and have a look at the grandest historic buildings. Lastly, go to the top of Shanghai’s new landmark –World Financial Center for a bird's-eye view of the city.

Take morning flight from Shanghai to Chongqing. The tour guide in Chongqing will meet your at the airport upon your arrival. Before boarding the ship, you will have a half day Chongqing tour to see the cute pandas in Chongqing zoo and go to Ciqikou Old Town to experience authentic community and local’s life. Lunch is arranged at a great local restaurant. Board the ship from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Dinner is not included and we suggest that you buy some snacks in local supermarket. Start your Yangtze River cruise from Chongqing to Yichang at 9:00pm.

--Shibaozhai, literally means Stone Treasure Fortress, Located in Zhong County, it was first built in Qing Dynasty in 1750. Shibaozhai is one historic site that will look much different in 2009. The wooden architecture stands on the riverside. It is built by catch upon a rectangular rock with sheer cliffs with a height of 56 meters and 12 stories. And every floor of the wooden structure contains interesting artifacts. Each of the 12 floors of Shibaozhai is dedicated to a famous general of the Three Kingdoms period (220-265AD), a local scholar or a renowned Chinese poet.

Shennong Stream is another tributary of the Yangtze River, and its fast-flowing, crystal clear water runs southwards through deep gorges. The stream races past large and small karst caves, flocks of swallows, sheer cliffs, deep gorges, waterfalls, three-colored springs, rapids, the ancient plank path, a suspended coffin in the cliff, groups of ancient tombs and marvelous karst formations.

- Half-Day Shanghai Seat-in-coach Tour : This is an organized group tour. First we will pick you up at the appointed boarding hotel at the appointed time. You are advised to go to one of the boarding destinations if you are not check in these four hotels. The tours start with Yu Garden which is a traditional Chinese park complete with beautiful pavilions, miniature lakes, bridges and rock formations. And then continue our tour to "Xintiandi", which is a rejuvenated old quarter with lots of cafes, quirky and upmarket shops, and western food. After visiting Former French Concession and Pearl City, you will arrive at the Bund to see a new vitality of Shanghai. After the tour, you will back to your hotel by yourself. (Lunch excluded)

--Shore excursion to The Three Gorges Dam Site. Arrive in Yichang at 1:00pm.
Three Gorges Dam, the largest water conservancy project ever undertaken by man and it has been a dream for several generations of Chinese people. The construction of the dam formally began in 1994. The body of the dam was completed in 2003, and the whole construction has been completed in 2009. It will be 2,335 meters long, 185 meters high, 18 meters wide on the top and 130 meters wide at the bottom. The tourists can get access to the top of the dam and enjoy different kinds of photo opportunities.

Transfer you to the airport to board on your flight home.
